AMERICAN GREATNESS: Family Scandalizes Liberals By Drinking 12 Gallons of Milk a Week
Conservatives have affirmed the patriotic virtue of drinking milk after liberals mocked a family for consuming 12 gallons of the beverage per week.
MEET THESE MILK
In a Thursday CNN segment about how rising prices are affecting middle-class Americans, the Stotlers said their family’s weekly grocery bill spiked by $100 over the summer.
"A gallon of milk was $1.99. Now it's $2.79. When you buy 12 gallons a week times four weeks, that's a lot of money."@EvanMcS goes grocery shopping with the Stotlers and shows us how badly inflation is hitting the middle class. pic.twitter.com/39hPPRHLja

“A gallon of milk was $1.99. Now it’s $2.79. When you buy 12 gallons a week times four weeks, that’s a lot of money,” Krista Stotler told CNN.
- Krista and her husband, Larry Stotler, look after nine kids, including two adoptive children and one foster child.
- Larry Stotler said he feels guilty because the family is being forced to buy less healthy food to save money.
THE REACTION
Journalists and other left-leaning Twitter commentators ridiculed the Stotlers’ milk consumption, with Orlando Sentinel sports editor J. Michael saying the family has a “contraception problem.”
“Having to buy 12 gallons a week means you have an issue with contraception … not the price of milk,” said Orlando Sentinel sports editor J. Michael.

Even The New York Times’ Wordplay section account cracked since-deleted joke at the family’s expense.
THE AMERICAN GREATNESS
Conservatives, meanwhile, rallied to Stotlers’ defense, accusing critics of being out of touch.
As the oldest girl in a family of 11 kids, best part of my week is driving out to my parents house and having the kiddos come running to the car to hug me. My parents would tell you they consider themselves very blessed to be able to provide for our family. https://t.co/RcP3jo4gWp

Evan McMorris-Santoro, the CNN reporter behind the segment, similarly responded: “Truly remarkable number of assholes on here attempting to dunk on a charming family who lays out how it feels to shop with price rises. Very wise and cool tweets. Glad you’re all weathering the economy so well!”
