American Greatness: Hurricane Edition
Adversity brought the best out in one American Sunday as Hurricane Ida pummeled New Orleans.
THE MOMENT
New Orleans Advocate reporter Luke Johnson shared footage to Twitter that he said showed a man in his neighborhood running over to an evacuated house with a power drill to repair a window that had blown open.

THE STORM
Ida made landfall around midday Sunday as a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 150 miles per hour.
- The storm, which came exactly on the 16th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, destroyed buildings, left 1 million Louisianans without power and briefly reversed the course of the Mississippi River.
