CDC Accidentally Admits Fetuses Are Babies
“Pro-life” advocates have sarcastically cheered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for its recent tweet about unborn babies.
SO WHAT
The CDC is increasingly seen on the right as an agent of the liberal establishment, and thus fair game for dunks.
WHAT HAPPENED
The CDC tweeted last Monday that after pregnant women receive a certain vaccine, “your body creates protective antibodies and passes some of them to your baby before birth” — and social conservatives pounced.
Wait, what’s inside a pregnant woman’s womb is a baby??? https://t.co/gZQyWtoH6P

“CDC calls a baby, a baby. Oops,” commented Mary Margaret Olohan of The Daily Signal.
- “The clump of cells suddenly becomes a baby when it can receive the latest social sacrament in-utero,” said another user.
“A CLUMP OF CELLS”
Earlier this year, conservative commentators resurfaced a 2012 medical journal article some said took “pro-choice” ideology to its logical conclusion.

In the article, published in the Journal of Medical Ethics, philosophers Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva made a case for infanticide.
- The authors argued there’s no moral distinction between a newborn and a fetus, and so, “when circumstances occur ‘after birth’ such that they would have justified abortion, what we call ‘after-birth abortion’ should be permissible.”
