THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN: Election Day Should Not Be a Holiday, 4PM Readers Say
A majority of The 4PM Poll respondents think Election Day should remain a regular work day.
WHAT YOU’RE SAYING
In Friday’s poll, we asked: “Should Election Day be a federal holiday?”
- 67% of you said no.
- 33% said yes.
FROM THE MAILBAG
Kathryn wrote to us to say, “This makes sense if we go back to in person voting with limited mail-in options for specific reasons only.”
- Janet agreed: “Election Day should be a day-off for everyone to vote. That way, we could do away with mail-in ballots, drop boxes, and all the rest of the potential fraud.”
- But Mark was not on board — “No more federal holidays unless it’s unpaid! I’m 64 years old, never missed a election since 1980, and never once had a problem getting to the polls,” he wrote.
