QUOTE OF THE DAY: Democrats Are Really Going With Drag Queens in Schools

New York City Mayor Eric Adams said Thursday that drag queens play an invaluable role in educating the city’s children.

THE QUOTE

“At a time when our LGBTQ+ communities are under increased attack across this country, we must use our education system to educate. The goal is not only for our children to be academically smart, but also emotionally intelligent,” Adams, a Democrat, said in a statement.

  • “Drag storytellers, and the libraries and schools that support them, are advancing a love of diversity, personal expression and literacy that is core to what our city embraces.
  • Adams’s comments were part of progressive backlash to Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, a Republican from Queens, recently advocating defunding schools that host drag queen events, which she called “grooming and sexualization.”
  • Paladino was reacting to a New York Post report that the city has paid drag queens over $200,000 since 2018 to read to kids at public schools, libraries and street festivals.

SAME ENERGY

A day earlier, amid a national culture war over drag queens and progressive sex-ed for children, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel declared in a speech that every school should have a drag queen, saying the gender-bending performers “make everything better.”
