Liberals Are Turning Against ‘The Science’ Now That They Don’t Like What It Says
Liberals have been revolting against loosened masking restrictions put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
SO WHAT
THE SCIENCE
While some have accused the CDC of dragging its feet when it comes to relaxing masking guidance, the agency last week issued new, less restrictive guidelines.
- The CDC dropped its recommendation that areas with high transmission rates, which included most U.S. counties, enact universal indoor masking mandates.
- In addition, the agency no longer uses case counts alone in determining which counties qualify as areas of “high” or “substantial” transmission.
- It will now weigh hospitalization rates more heavily than other factors when deciding to recommend masking.
THEY CLING TO THEIR MASKS AND RELIGION
Amid the pandemic, liberals have lionized public health authorities such as the CDC and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases director Anthony Fauci, and chastised conservatives for challenging their expertise.

Fauci has even gone as far as to say that Republicans who criticize him are attacking “science” itself.
- Now, COVID-hawks’ reluctance to let go of their masks has them contravening their cherished experts.

A rally organized by Parents for Responsive, Equitable, Safe Schools took place Wednesday outside the New York City Department of Education headquarters and was aimed at protesting the city’s recent lifting of mask mandates in schools.
- “We already saw that Omicron took no prisoner, even vaccinated, boosted individuals suffered from COVID. We’re concerned that reinfections will affect our communities, we’re concerned about our Black, Latino, and immigrant communities, who haven’t had access to the vaccine,” Press NYC committee member Kaliris Salas told News12 Bronx.
LAURA WASHINGTON, Chicago Sun-Times columnist
“I remain afraid — of those who are not afraid,” Washington, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, wrote in explaining why she will continue to mask despite the CDC’s new guidance and the City of Chicago lifting its mandate.
- “Those who will recklessly continue to disregard ways to keep us all safe, who refuse to get vaccinated. Those who subscribe to wacky conspiracy theories and foolish notions of freedom,” she added.

I will keep masking because I don’t want to put it on the immunocompromised and vulnerable to protect themselves.
I will keep masking for babies and infants who can’t protect themselves.
I will keep masking because breaking one link in the chain can have a positive ripple effect.— Jon Levy (@jonlevyBU) February 26, 2022

THE SCIENCE HAS SPOKEN
Since New York began lifting mask mandates early last month, COVID-19 cases have steadily plummeted.
- Last week, cases in the state dropped by almost 30%, continuing a trend of steady decline.
- Some politicians, notably Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, have expressed frustration with the abiding practice of wearing masks.
DeSantis this week chastised a group of high school students for wearing masks during an event at which he was speaking.
NEW: @GovRonDeSantis annoyed with USF students—
"You do not have to wear those masks. Please take them off. Honestly, it's not doing anything. We've gotta stop with this Covid theater. So if you wanna wear it, fine, but this is ridiculous."https://t.co/7j1Pb2hV53 @WFLA pic.twitter.com/ZIOyTHLOh3
