A new online movement hopes to join two unlikely populist forces: MAGA and communism.
Will workers of America unite?
Donald Trump-supporting social media influencers like 23-year-old Jackson Hinkle and a YouTuber who goes by the name “Haz” have been hard at work showing the populist left and right they have more in common than it might seem, Motherboard reported on Monday.

“Communists have a lot of the same goals as working class Americans in the MAGA movement,” Hinkle said during an appearance on the pro-Trump One America News network last month.
- Where exactly do those interests align? “More prosperity for average Americans. We want to end Big Tech. We want to end Big Agriculture, Big Pharma,” Hinkle told OAN host Addison Smith. “We want to stop the monopolies and subsidization of monopolies all across America.”
- Haz echoed Hinkle’s anti-elite sentiments while visiting a Trump rally earlier this month, telling one fellow attendee: “The workers striking at the railways, the MAGA industrial working class, the small farmers, we all unite with our power. We kick out the globalists. We kick out George Soros. We kick out Klaus Schwab. We stop that Great Reset agenda in its tracks.”
- In September, #MAGACommunism trended on Twitter.
That same month, the term “MAGA Communism” peaked in popularity on Google Trends.
