NEW YORK SUES TRUMP: New York State Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit today against Donald Trump and several of his family members, alleging the former president “falsely inflated his wealth by billions of dollars” to reap financial gains. The state is seeking $250 million in damages and has also referred the allegations to the IRS and the Manhattan district attorney. Read more.

SO…THE PANDEMIC’S NOT OVER?: President Biden told a Democratic National Committee fundraising audience in New York City yesterday that the pandemic, “basically is not where it was.” The president had been on the receiving end of fierce blowback from fellow liberals after he declared the COVID-19 pandemic “over” in an interview with “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday. MIGRANTS SUE DESANTIS: Three of the roughly 50 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard last week by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have filed a class action lawsuit against DeSantis and Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue. The plaintiffs allege they were misled with promises of work and shelter. Read more.

RUSSIA MOBILIZES: Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the mobilization of 300,000 reservists from the civilian population yesterday following the success of key Ukrainian military counteroffensives in recent weeks. Putin also warned the West he is “not bluffing” about using nuclear weapons in case of a further escalation of tensions. Read more.

POLITICAL DIVIDE TURNS DEADLY: Police say an 18-year-old North Dakota man, Cayler Ellingson, was killed in a deliberate hit-and-run incident following an argument about politics yesterday. The intoxicated driver, Shannon Brandt, 41, told authorities he believed Ellingson was a member of a Republican extremist group that was “coming to get him.” Read more.
