MCCONNELL BACKS ELECTORAL REFORM: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-KY, has joined with majority leader Chuck Schumer, D-NY, to endorse the bipartisan Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act. The bill, a response to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, is aimed at preventing future attempts to undermine presidential election results.  Read more.

NORDSTREAM PIPELINE SABOTAGE?: Leaks on the Nordstream natural gas pipelines running from Russia to Germany have prompted speculation that the pipelines were sabotaged. Scandinavian seismic stations in Sweden, Norway and Finland reported explosions near the leaks. Read more.

A WARNING TO AMERICANS IN RUSSIA: The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert yesterday urging Americans to leave the country following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s mobilization of 300,000 reservists to fight in Ukraine. “Russia may refuse to acknowledge dual nationals’ US citizenship, deny their access to US consular assistance, prevent their departure from Russia, and conscript dual nationals for military service,” the alert said. RUSSIAN ASYLUM: White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre encouraged Russian men fleeing the country to avoid conscription to apply for asylum in the U.S. “What we’re seeing in Russia are the people of Russia who are saying they do not want this war, they do not support Putin’s war,” Jean-Pierre told reporters at a press briefing yesterday.
