Social media users have rediscovered a Washington Post op-ed in which columnist Fareed Zakaria interviewed an unlikely authority on European populism.
In response to 2016’s populist wave, which included the rise of former President Donald Trump in the U.S. and Euroskeptics across the Atlantic, Zakaria wrote “I wanted to understand Europe’s populism. So I talked to Bono.”
- “Europe needs to go from being seen as a bore, a bureaucracy, a technical project, to being what it is: a grand, inspiring idea,” the U2 frontman told Zakaria.
lots of people apparently just now discovering the "I wanted to understand Europe's populism. So I talked to Bono." WaPo article from Fareed Zakaria, despite it now being a more than three year old piece/meme!https://t.co/uEC50cNCCA
