QUOTE OF THE DAY: Gavin Newsom’s Explanation for Getting Caught Maskless Again Is Priceless

California Gov. Gavin Newsom visibly struggled Monday to explain why he was photographed violating Los Angeles County’s indoor mask mandate at the NFC title game.

“I was trying to be gracious and I made a mist — you know, I mean I was trying to be gracious and took the mask off for a brief second. But no, I encourage people to continue to wear them,” Newsom said at a press conference, a day after taking a photo with Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson in what appeared to be a stadium suite.

Other Democratic notables who were spotted maskless at SoFi Stadium during the Los Angeles Rams’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers: Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

In November 2020, Newsom apologized amid public backlash after he was caught attending a lavish dinner party at a restaurant in Napa in November 2020 in defiance of his own COVID-19 restrictions.
