QUOTE OF THE DAY: Cory Booker Has Another ‘I Am Spartacus’ Moment
Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., delivered an impassioned panegyric to Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court, during Wednesday’s confirmation hearing.
THE QUOTE
Addressing Jackson, Booker declared, “God has got you,” adding, “You have earned this spot, you are worthy. You are a great American.”
Cory Booker compares Judge Jackson to the star Harriet Tubman would follow to lead slaves to the North:

Booker went on to compare himself to Underground Railroad hero Harriet Tubman, who looked for a star in the night sky as a “harbinger of hope.”
- “Today, you’re my star. You are my harbinger of hope. This country’s getting better and better and better. And when that final vote happens, and you ascend on to the highest court in the land, I’m going to rejoice,” he said.
SAME ENERGY
Booker gave a very different kind of theatrical performance during the 2018 confirmation hearings for Justice Brett Kavanaugh, at one point likening himself to Spartacus for taking such a brave against the then-nominee.
