Republicans say the TV news source they trust the most after Fox News is “None,” according to a new poll.
According to the USA Today/Suffolk University poll, released Tuesday, 36% of Republicans named Fox News as the network they most trust — followed closely by “None” at 34%.
Right-wing upstarts One America News and Newsmax came in distant third- (9%) and fourth-places (4%), respectively.
- After CNN, Republicans said the source they most distrust is, “All of them.”
While Americans of all stripes have lost faith in the media, the disillusionment has been most pronounced among conservatives.
- Between 2017 and 2021 — an era of intensely negative coverage of Donald Trump’s presidency — the proportion of Republicans with at least some trust in the national media fell by half, going from 70% to 35%, according to the Pew Research Center.
- Meanwhile, a 2020 Gallup poll found that Democrats’ trust in media had rocketed to a near-all-time high during Trump’s tenure.
