QUOTE OF THE DAY: Scottish Prisoner Reportedly Identifies as a Baby

The Scottish Prison Service is struggling with what to do with a transgender inmate who claims to be an infant and is demanding diapers, baby food and other concessions, according to a Scottish tabloid.

Sophie Eastwood, who is serving a life sentence in Scotland’s Polmont prison for strangling a cellmate with shoelaces in 2004, now identifies as a baby, a source familiar with the case told the Daily Record.

  • “This prisoner has been difficult and manipulative over the years, which is why she is still behind bars after 17 years,” the source said. “She decided that she would ‘trans’ from a man to woman, which is becoming more common in jails these days.”
  • “But this is obviously something else entirely and the Scottish Prison Service has no protocol in place for dealing with prisoners who decide they are babies.”
  • “It’s difficult to know if she really does feel a natural inclination to be treated like a baby or if it’s just some kind of attention-seeking,” the source added, saying the request was being given “proper consideration.”

Eastwood, who was born Daniel Wood and transitioned four years ago, has reportedly been supplied with a doll.
