Teacher Scolds Students for Being Conservative, Says Their Parents Are Dumb in Viral Video

A Utah high school teacher’s classroom rant against conservatives led to her being placed on administrative leave as footage of the incident went viral online.

Teachers are known to skew left, but wasn’t there a time when, regardless of their politics, they just taught?

In a four-minute-long video filmed by a student Tuesday and obtained by Fox 13, Lehi High School chemistry teacher Leah Kinyon slams vaccine skeptics, former President Donald Trump, critics of the LGBT community and parents.

A sampling of Kinyon’s remarks reveal the anti-Trump educator and school Gay-Straight Alliance adviser held nothing back:

  • On Trump: “I hate Donald Trump. I’m going to say it. I don’t care what y’all think — Trump sucks. He is a sexual predator. He is a literal moron. Go tattle on me to the freakin’ admin; they don’t give a crap.”
  • On vaccine skeptics: “This is my classroom, and if you guys are going to put me at risk, you’re going to hear about it. Because I have to be here. I don’t have to be happy about the fact that there’s kids coming in here with their variants that could possibly get me or my family sick.”
  • On parents: “Most of y’all parents are dumber than you. I’m going to say that out loud. My parents are freaking dumb, okay?”
  • On the value of her students’ political opinions: “You can believe what you want to believe but keep it quiet in here because I’m probably going to make fun of you.”
  • On climate change: “If you don’t believe in climate change, get the hell out.”
  • On the LGBT community: “If you’re a homophobe, get out because I am the GSA faculty advisor. I love gay people. All LGBTQIA+ motherf*ckers.”

Kinyon was immediately placed on leave, and following a brief investigation, officials announced Wednesday she was no longer employed by the district.

  • Judy Storms, the mother of a student in Kinyon’s class, told Fox 13 her son’s teacher often delivers political speeches.
  • According to Storms’ son, Kinyon knew her latest diatribe was being recorded.

Money quote: “This behavior is inappropriate, not reflective of the professional conduct and decorum we expect of our teachers, and will not be tolerated,” the Alpine School District said in a statement to Fox 13.
