A prominent New Jersey pollster has apologized to voters for apparently overstating support for Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy in his state ahead of Tuesday’s unexpectedly tight election.
- “I blew it,” wrote Patrick Murray, the director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute, in a (Newark) Star-Ledger op-ed Thursday, before echoing other pollsters who contemplated the end of horse-race polling after botching the 2020 election.
- (Meanwhile, Trafalgar Group added to its record of predicting underestimated surges of Republican voters.)
