The Most Unintentionally Hilarious Signs From Last Weekend’s Women’s Marches
The spectacle of thousands of feminists rallying for abortion rights in U.S. cities Saturday would be hard to put into words — but thankfully many of the protesters captured the vibe with over-the-top signs.
SO WHAT
If you don’t scroll down, you’re a misogynist.
WHAT HAPPENED
The women and their “allies” gathered at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C. and New York City and at a number of smaller rallies elsewhere to #resist Texas’ recent ban on most abortions and the tightening grip of the patriarchy on “bodies with vaginas.”
- “No matter where you live, no matter where you are, this moment is dark — it is dark — but that’s why we’re here,” Alexis McGill Johnson, the president of Planned Parenthood, told the D.C. rally-goers outside the Supreme Court, which will consider a challenge to Roe v. Wade in its session that started Monday.
- The same Manichean mood was on display across Saturday’s protests, as you can see in these photos of participants’ slogan-emblazoned placards, costumes and effigies.
They’re not joking, so please try not to laugh.
THE SIGNS
Washington, D.C.: “F*ck them kids!!” 👀:

Somewhere, a riot police officer is wondering where his shield went.

Is he saying men can’t get pregnant?

Nightmare fuel.

New York City: Who says the left can’t meme?

A “Handmaid’s Tale” reference, very edgy.

A little on the nose, but OK.

NSFW.

Atlanta: Even the dogs are “pro-choice” here.

Austin, Texas: When you couldn’t afford a bigger sign.

Wait, is this cultural appropriation?
